Having a
side gig can be fun and interesting, and it shouldn’t feel like having an extra
full time job that sucks all of your time and energy.
The
flexibility of the gig economy means that you can earn extra cash while doing
something more enjoyable than you’re standard nine-to-five. It also gives
people the opportunity to test new skills and hobbies they’ve been wanting to
try out for years.
Have a read
of these three fun ways to make money and get started on that side hustle
today.
One: Hang
with pets
Pet owners
love their pets but many of them can’t be around them 24/7. Whether you’re
walking a dog two afternoons a week or pet-sitting for a month, you can make
some bonus cash by hanging out with some awesome animals. This is by far one of
the most fun ways to make some side cash, but there are some caveats.
Firstly,
many people don’t trust unqualified strangers to look after their animals, so
it might be a case of needing experience before you can get experience. And
secondly, not every job will be the most enjoyable- you might have to look
after a sick cat who hates to take their medicine, or walk a Labrador who hates
to be on their leash.
Two: Test
websites
There comes
a time when being fluent in the internet has an advantage, and testing websites
is just that. Everyone from experienced companies to start-ups wants to know
that their website functions like it’s supposed to, and the best way to test
this is from gathering real-life feedback. Being a website tester can include
such tasks as testing the usability of a site to making sure page won’t crash
when information (or lack thereof) is entered.
You could
also be expected to fill out a simple form, or write an essay, or complete an
audio log while testing the site. In short, this job can be fun if you like
using the internet and you know what can make a great website, but if can also
be hard if you have trouble articulating.
Three: Answer
surveys
If you have
opinions, we have a side hustle. Answering online surveys is pretty much the
oldest way to make money on the internet (porn notwithstanding), and with good
reason. Companies used to have to pay a pretty penny to get people to review their
products and then answer questions. Nowadays, companies don’t have to pay as
much, but they still need their goods and services reviewed. How else are they
going to get tag lines such as “9 out of 10 users agree…”? Answering surveys
can be pretty time consuming, and thanks to the millions of ready
survey-takers, plus many more people giving away their feedback for free
(thanks Facebook), this side hustle doesn’t pay an awful lot.
But if you
love to give honest feedback, and you don’t care who’s listening, then this
will be a fun job for you.
Take your
own unique likes and dislikes into consideration before trying any of these
ideas; or throw your preconceptions about yourself out the window and try
something new! Who knows, you might find a new hobby that you love, that will
also help with the bills every months. Let me know if you’re tried any of these
and how the process has been for you.
Thanks,
Kathy
